Discover the Success Mechanism Within You!
   November 30, 2009 12:42pm

"Within in you, whoever you may be, regardless of how big a failure you may think yourself to be, is the ability and the power to do whatever you need to do to be happy and successful. Within you right now is the power to do things you never dreamed possible. This power becomes available to you just as soon as you can change your beliefs. Just as quickly as you can dehypnotize yourself from the ideas of ‘I can't,' ‘I'm not worthy,' ‘I don't deserve it' and other self-limiting ideas."

The above is taken directly from page 55 of one of my all-time favorite books, Psycho-Cybernetics, written by Maxwell Maltz.

I was actually given a copy of this book at the same time I received a copy of Think and Grow Rich (another of my all-time favorites) back in the 1980s. Both of my copies are tattered and the pages have yellowed. But the information is pure gold!

Psycho-Cybernetics has sold more than 30 million copies (via word-of-mouth) since its first printing in the 1960s.

This book is a true phenomenon as it has changed so many lives. From the back cover, here are just a few of the things this book can help you do:

  • Discover the success mechanism within you!
  • Improve your self-image and turn the key to a better life!
  • Dehypnotize yourself from false beliefs!
  • Use the do-it-yourself tranquilizers that bring peace of mind!
  • Remove emotional scars and give yourself an "Emotional Face Lift!"
  • Learn to turn a crisis into a Creative Opportunity!

This book can help you improve all facets of your life. And the thing I find incredibly interesting is that you can use the exact techniques taught in the book to help you improve your trading!

I highly encourage you to get a copy. If you implement the steps as outlined, the small investment will pay off for you many, many times over.

You can get your copy by clicking here.

February 2010 Gold
   November 27, 2009 10:47pm

What a day for the Gold market! The news about the Dubai default sent most every market reelng Thursday evening and the Gold market was no exception.

At one point during overnight trading the February contract was down 52.80 trading at 1135.80.

I've been warning that a correction was due and this was a beauty. However, prices didn't stay at the lower levels for long as Gold rebounded to be down "just" -13.10 and settling at 1,175.50 to end the Friday session.

See the damage below on the Daily February Gold chart. Keep an eye out for a possible retracement to the circled area.

I'll have more about this market for Gold subscribers on Monday. For now, know that we should be provided with another nice entry opportunity down the road.

Major Resistance
   November 22, 2009 9:52pm

Take a look at the charts below of the Weekly mini Dow and the Weekly emini S&P 500. They have retraced 50% of their bear market declines and now both indexes are testing major resistance of the down trendlines drawn touching 2007/2008 peaks. Because these markets have rallied approx. 60% in the last eight months without a meaningful correction of any sort, this might cause for concern for the bulls.

Thus, the resistance of the Weekly 50% level and the downtrend line could turn these markets lower.

Something to keep an eye on for sure. At the very least these markets could turn rather choppy headed into the year's end.

   November 21, 2009 7:36pm

I'm getting ready to watch the UFC tonight. Two prelim fights are on SPIKE TV (for free) at 6pm PT. Then the Pay-Per View starts at 7pm PT.

Also tonight is the replay of Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto boxing match on HBO. This fight took place last Saturday in Las Vegas. My DVR will be capturing this fight and I'll watch it after the UFC fights.

You can probably tell that I love combat sports!

I'm a big fan of actor Nicolas Cage, but this story is ridiculous. What is wrong with people that they just can't control themselves? Former NBA star, Antonio Walker, is in deep financial trouble too. It's crazy. . . making all that money and then losing it via sheer stupidity.

I love poker and love to watch it on TV. So much of poker can be related to trading it's pretty interesting and scary.

This year's World Series of Poker Champion, Joe Cada, is just 21 years old. For winning the championship bracelet he won 8.55 million dollars! Yes, you read that correctly. I did not make a typo! LOL

Anyway, ESPN has been running the final table episode all month long (the episode in which Joe wins). If you like poker or want to get an idea as to how much both trading and poker are a like, I encourage you to watch the show.

Below is a link to an interview Joe recently did on Bloomberg TV.

Just a Note. . .
   November 19, 2009 2:40pm

Just a note to let you know that I will be out of the office and away from the markets the entire week of Thanksgiving, November 23-27.

Volume generally thins out during turkey day week, and I will typically pull in the reins. I do this by either not initiating any new trades, or at the most I'll keep the positions I have working and manage them as unual (keeping stops and target orders in place).

Keep in mind that I will not be producing the Premium Alert Service updates, the Advanced Options weekly video update, or the weekly email letter that I usually send out on Friday's

It is also likely I'll make few, if any blog posts during that stretch.

It's closing in on turkey time!

Did You Catch This?
   November 18, 2009 8:18am

On November 4 I posted an article in which I pointed out the January chart of Platinum. While I mentioned that it's typically not a market I focus on, a pennant had developed and a close above the top of the formation would trigger an entry.

Here's a screen shot of the chart in that Nov. 4 post.

Now take a look at the chart below with the most recent price activity. . . what a mover! From the closing price of the breakout day (Nov. 13) to the close on Nov. 17, this market rallied $3,690 per contract!

What a move!

Rockstars?
   November 16, 2009 3:13pm

We had quite the exiting day yesterday. My youngest daughter and her pup participated in their very first AKC (American Kennel Club) show in Roseburg, Oregon. Think of the dog shows you see on TV and then you'll know what an AKC show is all about.

Anyway, the show went VERY well for them, as they were both in top form!

The day started with Junior Handling. Our daughter and 19 month old pup, Bella, took first and were awarded a Best in Class ribbon. They went back in against the other winners of various breeds but did not win that group (which would have been Best of Winners). Still, it was a respectable win and both dog and handler looked great.

The next event was Obedience and Bella was completely off-lead (i.e. no leash). Off-lead is when things can go wrong. For instance, the dog may decide to leave the ring, or not follow commands, etc. ... you get the idea. Anyway, they were an awesome team! They scored a 196.5 out of a possible 200 points and tied for "High in Trial" (which means the highest score of the day) -- out of several hundered people.

The lady they tied with is one of the best trainer/handlers in the United States. From my understanding she's the "trainers trainer." In fact, three of Emily's trainers were there watching and they all said they had taken lessons from this nice lady. I won't place her name here, but I will say that I was told she has more perfect scores than anyone in the state and perhaps anyone on the West Coast.

But I digress. . . they went back in for a run-off and tied a second time. At this point both Bella and the other lady's dog were looking pretty tired. The trainers trainer then went to the judge and said that her dog was wiped out and couldn't continue. She personally told me "it wasn't even close."

Anyway, Emily and Bella were awarded a huge ribbon, a training bag, a beautiful wall-hanging depicting wolves, another gear bag, and had their photo taken that will remain in the AKC annals.

They were even asked to perform a quick walk through exhibition after lunch in the center ring.

In the dog show world this is a pretty big deal -- their first AKC show and they get high in trial!

Below is a photo of the judge, Emily and pup, and a show official holding the first price wall-hanging. Pretty cool.

Ahh, rockstars they are. And yes, I'm a proud Pop!

One of the Greatest Traders Ever!
   November 12, 2009 11:46am

Paul Tudor Jones is considered by many as one of, if not the greatest, traders of all-time.

I just stumbled across a one-hour video that PBS did of Mr. Jones and his hedge fund back in 1987 titled: Trader: The Documentary. This video provides an amazing behind the scenes look at Mr. Jones, his lifestyle, and his hedge fund. The film is both educational and entertaining.

After watching this video I did a little research and learned a couple of interesting facts. Apparently Mr. Jones bought up all remaining copies of this video in the 1990s in an effort to keep it on the QT. Also, when it appears online it usually isn't up for long before being pulled.

So here's your chance. The movie is currently playing at the link below. There's no telling how long the site will, or can, keep it up for viewers. So if you're interested in seeing it, I suggest you do so immediately (I think you'll be glad you did).

The film runs about 55 minutes and be aware that there is some off-color language.

Otherwise, enjoy!

Gold Powers Higher!
   November 9, 2009 10:43am

February Gold continues its trek higher! Since the October 28 low, which was the result of a pull back to support of the uptrend line, prices have rallied over $80 ($8,000) per futures contract traded!

Because of the nice run higher, I wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of pull back soon.

I love when a market runs like this. It truly makes one realize that this is indeed the Greatest Business on Earth!

Last night I took the family to see a play titled, The Diary of Anne Frank. I haven't seen a play in many years, but must say that the local theatre group, called the Barnstormers, did a wonderful job.

Their rendition of the truly touching story of Anne Frank and her family's hiding during World War II from the Nazis (for two years in an attic) was outstanding!

The play ran about 2-1/2 hours and I think I'm hooked. I have a good feeling I'll be back soon to see other productions.

Three Markets to Keep An Eye On
   November 4, 2009 9:25pm

Below is a Daily chart of January Platinum. Typically you won't see me write much about this market. That's because it's not heavily traded nor does it trade options.

That said, it's formed a pennant and Trend Seeker(tm) says the trend for this market is up. Thus, a close above the upper trend line of the chart pattern will trigger an entry to the upside.

I discussed the Gold market in a post earlier today (see post below), so I won't spend time on it here.

March Silver, on the other hand, is still ranked as being in a down trend by Trend Seeker (TS). December Copper is in a two and a half week consolidation pattern, but TS does rate the trend as being up. Keep an eye on both March Silver and December Copper for opportunities.

December Crude Oil is in the midst of a very tight trading range. However, TS says the trend is up. Typically when a market acts like Crude Oil is acting it's very similar to that of a person hiking up a mountain. Eventually that person will need to take a rest before the climb continues. So it's possible Crude Oil will breakout to the upside of this trading range and attempt to test resistance of the Sept. 16, 2008 low at 93.86 (see horizontal trend line on chart). Keep watching for an opportunity in this market as well.

Finally, notice that the December U.S. Dollar Index has been in a down trend for 154 days as per TS. Thus, in staying with the trend a close below the #1 point will trigger an entry to the downside. Keep watching.

Gold is On Fire!
   November 4, 2009 11:55am

Trend Seeker(tm) says Gold is in an uptrend within all three time frames we follow; on the Daily, Weekly, and Monthly charts!

Just look at the movement on the three charts below.

Gold has advance nearly 10% since I released my Golden Opportunities video report. Initally I produced 10 online videos to teach you this methodology. I have since added four more videos for a total of well over an hour and a half of online instructional videos.

Gold still has the potential to move considerably higher.

I hope you're onboard and profiting!

FOMC
   November 4, 2009 10:19am

Just a reminder that the Federal Open Market Committee, better known as the FOMC, will announce its policy statement on today at 11:15am PT. The focus of the announcement will be whether or not they'll raise or cut interest rates.

Be aware that this is a day when, regardless of the actual meeting language, the announcement usually brings a lot of volatility to the markets.

The markets most affected are the stock indices, metals, financials, currencies and to some degree the energies.

Keep in mind that I mention this strictly because of the volatility. I'm not saying the announcement means you should begin trading the sectors listed above. Rather I'm pointing out something that tends to move the markets and this could be a plus or a minus if you're already holding positions in markets in the sectors mentioned.

As always, the bottom line is protect your positions!

Good Laughs
   November 2, 2009 9:57am

I had the great opportunity to see comedian Jon Reep and his Metro Jethro gang perform their act at the Ginger Rogers Theater in Medford, Oregon on Friday night.

For those of you that were fans of the NBC TV show the Last Comic Standing, then you'll remember Jon as the season five winner. You may have even seen him on Comedy Central's "Premium Blend" or the half-hour special "Comedy Central Presents: Jon Reep". Or you may have seen him on TBS's "Pit Stop Comedy", NBC's "Late Friday" or CMT's "Comedy Club" & "Comedy stage." Jon's a busy guy and more importantly for a comedian. . . he's very funny!

He's a "good ole' boy" from Hickory, North Carolina. A main portion of his act is based around his family and the "Hickory" lifestyle. It's very funny.

Below is a picture of me with Jon after the show. The picture was taken with my cell phone and unfortunately the lighting wasn't that good. But it's good enough to see the two of us together.

If you like a good laugh I encourage you to check out John's act and his Metro Jethro tour. To learn more about Jon and check out his tour schedule, you can visit his web site by clicking here.
